Happy Monday!
MaintainX has been acquired by Autodesk for $3.6B in cash, implying roughly 27x its expected 2026 ARR of $135M.
Founded in 2018, MaintainX is an industrial operations platform that gives maintenance teams a mobile-first system of record for physical work, replacing clipboards and legacy CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software with AI-powered work orders, preventive maintenance and asset management.
Autodesk has long dominated the design and construction phases of an asset’s life including AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360 and Construction Cloud but lacked a foothold in the operations phase. MaintainX’s acquisition will give Autodesk a live maintenance and asset-performance data layer that closes the loop between how an asset was designed, how it was built and how it actually runs in the field.
In July 2025, MaintainX raised a $150 million Series D co-led by Bessemer Venture Partners and Bain Capital Ventures at a $2.5 billion valuation. Other investors included D.E. Shaw Ventures, Amity Ventures, August Capital, Founders Circle Capital, Sozo Ventures and Fifth Down Capital.
CEO and co-founder Chris Turlica previously built and sold messaging platform Voo and served as a EIR at Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners. CTO and co-founder Hugo Dozois-Caouette previously worked as a software engineer at Autodesk and Fujitsu.
Cognition (AI software engineer) raised $1B Series D led by 8VC, General Catalyst, Lux Capital, with existing investors Founders Fund and 8VC participating alongside new backers including Ribbit Capital, Atreides and Layer Global.
Founded in August 2023, Cognition is the AI coding company behind “Devin,” which it calls the world’s first fully autonomous AI software engineer. The company has now raised more than $1B+ at a $25 billion pre-money valuation. It has also reached a $492M annualized revenue run rate, with enterprise usage of Devin growing 50% month over month.
Cognition was founded by three competitive programming stars: CEO Scott Wu, Steven Hao and Walden Yan, all IOI gold medalists. Wu won first place at the International Olympiad in Informatics in 2014, captured the 2011 MATHCOUNTS national title, dropped out of Harvard and previously worked as a founding engineer at Scale AI before co-founding Lunchclub.
Here is a list of Cognition’s competitors:
